Although I do not have a pet right now, I have been in households with pets most of my 50+ years. The earliest I remember was a kitten, who I used to throw Rice Krispies at. There were birds and turtles and dogs and more cats, but never any of the hamster types or snakes, etc.

My favourite would have been our dog Scamp, who came along when I was about 10 or 11. He and I were great buddies, and he even won a local neighbourhood dog show one summer. Was I ever proud of him.

Next best would have been Joey, a budgie. He had the run of the house, and would usually come sit on a finger and talk to you. Trying to get him to go to his cage at bedtime was a pain.
