Breeding teddy bear hamsters can be an educational and rewarding experience; If you are thinking about breeding your hamsters, you need to think about a couple things before your decide:

Who is going to buy your baby hamsters? After only 20 – 25 days, baby hamsters can be weaned. They can begin to breed once they reach 45 days old. Once the pups are born, there is not much time before you need to find them homes. You should try to decide where your babies are going long before the time. Please, do not turn the babies loose. Some other animal will probably eat them, or they will starve to death. If they are lucky enough to survive, then they will likely become a problem, just like so many other will rodents. In their natural habitat, before they were domesticated, dogs lived in packs. This is an inherent trait that they adopted from their ancestors the wolves. In their packs dogs would work as a team and in partnership with the other dogs of the pack to hunt and to care for themselves and their young ones. Though, dogs have been domesticated today, they have still not given up their pack mentality.
