Many hunting or gun dog owners do not necessarily realize that the supplies they are going to need are different from those of dogs we keep as pets. Although we may keep our pets outside from time to time in bad weather as a rule of thumb out pets are indoors if the weather is bad. Joey, the Budgie

My mom and I enjoyed having budgies as pets. One in particular (Joey) was quite the character. We would allow him to come out of his cage, and his curiosity had him learning quite a bit about our house. He would even come down and join us for breakfast, chewing on the edge of our toast. Garden Snakes

Snakes like hiding places, they are pretty independent creatures that do not harm anyone unless they feel threatened. For instance, many house owners have heard of garden snakes but they have actually never seen any. If you take gardening as a hobby it is possible to come across the skins garden snakes moult, otherwise they are so camouflaged in the background and avoid human proximity that chances to see them are pretty rare. Garden snakes are dull colored, either in tans and shades of brown, pale yellow, khaki or green, and they will usually run away from people and pets. The only issue is when you have poisonous garden snakes, then the risk of getting bitten is higher, and most often, professional assistance is necessary to capture and move them in a wild habitat. Hello world!

Blog started on January 25, 2009.

Although I do not have a pet right now, I have been in households with pets most of my 50+ years. The earliest I remember was a kitten, who I used to throw Rice Krispies at. There were birds and turtles and dogs and more cats, but never any of the hamster types or snakes, etc. Read the rest of this entry
